The Northgate Elementary is getting state funds as part of nearly $3.8 million in grants to Seattle Public Schools from the Washington State Department of Commerce to help fund energy-efficiency projects.

Northgate, Green Lake, and Decatur Elementary Schools are among six to get funding to replace heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and boilers in six schools. Other schools receiving funding are: Arbor Heights, Graham Hill, and Schmitz Park elementary schools.

Green Lake Elementary is also getting money to retrofit lighting. And Eckstein Middle School will be retrofitting lighting in its gym.

The Seattle Public Schools (SPS) grant awards were announced this Wednesday by Gov. Chris Gregoire and the state Commerce Department, and were part of a $17 million grant to 29 public schools statewide. You can read the SPS press release here.
